As many of you may be aware, Keenan Cahill has become an internet sensation over the past few years. However, you may not know the whole story. Famous for his lip syncing of popular hit songs, Cahill is a 16 year old from Illinois who suffers from a rare disorder known as Maroteaux-Lamy Syndrome. The disorder only affects about 1,100 people worldwide and the drugs used to treat it are amongst the most expensive in the world. One prescription alone used in treatment costs about $350,000 per year!
In total, Keenan’s videos on YouTube have been viewed over 230 million times, boosted in part by celebrity appearances by 50 Cent, Jennifer Aniston, members of the New York Knicks, and now members of the San Francisco Giants. Some of you might recognize San Francisco Giants closer and 2005 Norwich Navigator Brian Wilson:
Wilson along with Giants Outfielder Cody Ross and the Giants have teamed up with Cahill to raise funds for causes dear to both Cody and Keenan. “Dynamite: A Fundraiser for Keenan Cahill” will take place during the Giants game against the Florida Marlins on May 25th.
